International Trafficking in Persons Day

Today we celebrate International Trafficking in Persons Day. It’s a special day put aside each year to raise aware of this modern day crime. Although we should raise awareness of this issue every day, it’s a day to reflect on the need to raise awareness to others, especially families, schools, law enforcement, legislators, heath care professionals, and local community members. The more unified we are, the stronger we are to fight and eradicate this.

Children and youth are most vulnerable to commercial sexual exploitation of children in cities.

For instance,

  • 45% of child commercial sexual exploitation victims in New York City were exploited in hotels.
